Northern Hairy Nosed Wombats (Lasiorhinus krefftii)
The Northern Hairy Nosed wombat is critically endangered, in fact it is the rarest marsupial on earth with as little as 115 individuals left in only one location.
Efforts are continuing to save this species.
As early as 1981, there was another colony of Northern Hairy Nosed wombats which was ignored by authorities and soon became extinct. This is a testament to the underestimation of the protection of the wombat. We need to make a stand now to prevent the Bare-Nosed and Southern Hairy-Nosed wombat from suffering the same fate.
